CAMP 2009
A sucessfull holiday was enjoyed by 24 children from the Plymouth area, who during August 2009 stayed at the Perran Sands Haven site near Newquay. The location of the site ensured the holiday was packed with lots of fun.
Day activities included two days on the beach. Both days blessed us with good weather so we were ableto have great fun. This included an exciting sand castle building contest, the normal beach games and splashing around in the sea.
Cornwall's Crealy Adventure Park, provided us with an action packed day. The indoor play areas were great for what started as a drizzly morning with the bigger rides proving the most attractive oncethe sun came out. The park catered for all tastes and proved to be one of the biggest success stories of the week.
Springfield Fun Park and Pony Centre was also a great hit on what was a wet day. The drop slide was one of the favorites but was topped when all children got to bottle feed lambs. Get excitement for all. The weather didn't stop us having pony rides and paddles around the lake. Both were a first for many of the children and helped build great team work, even for adult staff.
A treasure hunt around Perrenporth in caravan teams created some friendly rivalry. Some clues even puzzling the adults! The reward for all was much needed ice cream, a bit of shopping and some ball games.
The evenings were a chance for the children to let their hair down as a large group. Events often included a visit to the on site entertainment which over the week had something for all.
As well as this we included a night walk on the beach, badger watch, as we were lucky that the site had many wild badgers every evening that walked around the caravans, and a glow in the dark disco with many glow sticks for all.
Singstar karaoke was a huge success and was great to see that as the week progressed more and more children took part and enjoyed encouraging each other and working together. This is just one of the many ways that we use to help the children build in confidence, make new friends and have great fun, away from any worries or stresses they may have in their home lives.
This is just a bit about our holiday in 2009. Please feel free to e-mail us should you want to know any more.
