PRESS RELEASE – IMMEDIATE
Four local good causes have benefited to the tune of over six and a half thousand pounds following cheque presentations.
The Craven Police Charity Fund (CPCF) has been running for well over 20 years, but was recently granted full charitable status by the Charity Commission.
This week, Skipton-based Principle Trust has received a £1,050 donation from the CPCF towards respite breaks for disabled and underprivileged children and their families or carers from North and West Yorkshire.
SELFA – Skipton Extended Learning For All – and The Country Trust were each awarded £1,300 towards a joint summer camp of outdoor activities. This will be provided for vulnerable, disadvantaged and disabled children from Skipton and the wider Craven area.
Another recipient is Petal Childhood Cancer Research. This charity was formed by local hotelier Karen Weaving over 17 years ago in the quest to eradicate childhood cancer that affects so many families. The CPCF, a long-time supporter of Petal donated £3,000 towards their cause.
Detective Inspector Steve Menzies who founded the CPCF in 1996, said that it was an honour to be able to present this money to very deserving local causes. The committee of the CPCF have worked very hard to obtain charitable status and we are looking to utilise this to be able to help other causes. “Our motto is ‘We make a difference because you care’ and we want to thank everyone who supports us. We will be running other fun fundraising events” -follow us on Facebook – www.facebook.com/CravenPoliceCharity; on Twitter – twitter.com/CravenPoliceCF or on our website – CPCF.org.uk
